Homeshare International Update

Sep 07, 2023

Homeshare International (HI) has been busy refining its governance and committee structure to effectively deliver on the key priorities identified in its new strategic plan. You can learn more about HI from their website.

One of the major initiatives HI is working on is planning for the Homeshare International World Congress to be held in 2024. The World Congress brings the global Homeshare family together for presentations and workshops. It provides an opportunity to learn from each other, socialise and forge stronger bonds of support and friendship. Keep an eye out for updates on this event.

HI In Conversation provides a platform for the experience of its global members to be shared. Recent presentations explored the Homeshare experiences in Canada, Ireland, Belgium and the United Kingdom. The sessions are an opportunity to hear about the research and innovations being worked on across the world.

The next In Conversation will be in September. At this session, HANZA along with our New Zealand colleagues will share the work we are undertaking to establish a Homeshare pilot in Auckland. Look out for the invitation to the session on HANZA’s Facebook and LinkedIn and Homeshare International website.

As we have previously shared, Beris has stepped down from her position on the Homeshare International Board of Trustees. The work and commitment that Beris has contributed over the years to Homeshare on the international stage is unmatched. Bravo Beris, you will be greatly missed!

I look forward to the opportunity to continue this legacy as I take on the role as HANZA’s representative on the Homeshare International Board of Trustees.

Wendy Francis, Homeshare Development Officer, HANZA Board Member and Homeshare International Trustee

For our Member Profile for this edition, HANZA spoke with Dr John Ward from the Hunter Ageing Alliance (the Alliance). The Alliance was formed four years ago with an ambition to create an age-friendly community. It brings together concerned citizens from the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie region, who have decades of combined professional experience in issues affecting older people.
